KIDS' TURN EARLY YEARS PROGRAM 2002

Dorothy S. Huntington, Ph.D., Memorial Curriculum

For Divorcing/Separating Parents of Children 0-3 Years

The Early Years Program is appropriate for parents to attend either before or after they separate, and is open to all couples, whether or not they were married.  Kids' Turn encourages both parents to attend, and tries to offer groups at different times and locations to enable this.

TOPICS COVERED INCLUDE:

  • Understanding your baby's communication

  • Developmental stages of young children

  • How parental separation impacts young children

  • How parents can stay close to their babies/toddlers

  • Skills for parents to cooperate for the benefit of their children

  • Promoting healthy development during a stressful time

 WHAT PARENTS HAVE TO SAY...

"I liked the advice that I am going to give to my
son to reassure him about the separation"

"Because we discussed a variety of issues, including temperament, custody, discipline, it gave me lots of different things
to think about in the future."

"[It] gave me a better understanding that
the most important thing now is my child"
