Find the next step
A resource map for family transition.
Different questions belong with different helpers. This map keeps the child's needs visible while adults find appropriate support.
Start here
Match the helper to the question.
A child may need a listening adult, a school contact, or a qualified mental health professional. Adults may need legal advice, conflict support, safety planning, financial guidance, or parenting education. One provider does not need to fill every role.
Keep one question visible: What helps the child understand the next part without carrying the adult conflict?
A practical sequence
- 01
Name the question
Write one sentence about the decision or difficulty instead of searching only for broad labels like “divorce help.”
- 02
Check scope and qualifications
Ask what the provider does, who they serve, how privacy works, what costs or eligibility apply, and how they handle safety concerns.
- 03
Protect the child’s role
Do not use a child’s appointment, school, or workshop to gather evidence, send messages, or continue the adult dispute.
- 04
Leave with a next step
Record who will act, when the family will hear back, and what alternative to try if access is delayed.
A short working list
Bring the next plan into view.

Use with care
General guidance has limits.
In immediate danger, contact local emergency services. For legal rights, court orders, abuse, coercion, or safety planning, seek individualized help from appropriately qualified local professionals.
